What does a Social Media Analyst do?
A Social Media Analyst monitors, measures, and interprets performance data across social media platforms to help brands understand what content resonates with their audiences. Day-to-day work involves pulling metrics from native platform analytics and third-party tools, building reports for stakeholders, identifying trends in audience behaviour, benchmarking against competitors, and translating data into actionable recommendations for content and campaign teams.
Key responsibilities
- Track and report on KPIs such as reach, engagement rate, impressions, follower growth, and conversions across platforms
- Build recurring and ad-hoc performance reports for internal stakeholders and clients
- Conduct competitor and industry benchmarking to contextualise brand performance
- Identify content trends and audience behaviour patterns to inform editorial strategy
- Monitor brand mentions and sentiment using social listening tools
- Collaborate with content creators and paid social teams to optimise campaigns based on data

Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, statistics, or a related field; strong portfolio of analytical work often equally valued
