Competitor Research Tracker

Identify 3-5 competitors in your niche and analyze their content style, audience overlap, and engagement patterns.

Choosing the Right Competitors

Look for accounts that are 2-5x your size in the same niche. Avoid accounts that are too large (100K+) as their followers may not be as targeted. Focus on creators whose audience would naturally be interested in your content too.

3-Phase Engagement Process

Follow these three phases in order when engaging with a competitor's followers. Each phase builds on the previous one.

Phase 1: Observe and Research (Days 1-3)

Study the competitor's most engaged followers before reaching out.

0 of 4 completed
  • Identify 20-30 accounts that consistently comment on the competitor's posts
  • Check each account's profile to confirm they match your target audience
  • Note what topics , questions, or pain points these followers discuss
  • Save a list of the most active and relevant accounts to engage with

Phase 2: Add Value Through Engagement (Days 4-14)

Start engaging meaningfully with the accounts you identified.

0 of 5 completed
  • Leave thoughtful, multi-sentence comments on their posts (not just emojis)
  • Answer questions they ask in comments or stories without being salesy
  • Share their content to your stories when it genuinely resonates (tag them)
  • Reply to their stories with genuine reactions or helpful insights
  • Engage with each target account at least 3-4 times over 10 days

Phase 3: Convert Interest Into Follows (Days 14+)

By now, target accounts should recognize your name. Focus on conversion.

0 of 4 completed
  • Create content that directly addresses the pain points and questions you observed in Phase 1
  • Send a DM only if there is a natural reason (responding to their story, continuing a comment thread)
  • Propose a collaboration or content exchange with the most engaged accounts
  • Track which engaged accounts follow you back and continue nurturing the relationship
The Golden Rule

Never comment "Follow me" or anything self-promotional on a competitor's posts. The goal is to be genuinely helpful so people check out your profile on their own. Quality engagement always beats volume. Five thoughtful comments outperform fifty generic ones.

Daily Engagement Log

Track your daily engagement activities to stay consistent and measure effort.

Daily Engagement Target

Aim for 20-30 minutes of focused engagement per day. Engage with 10-15 accounts minimum, leaving at least 5 thoughtful comments. Consistency matters more than volume. Set a daily alarm so this becomes a non-negotiable habit.
