What does a Streamer do?
A Streamer produces and hosts live broadcasts on platforms such as Twitch, YouTube Live, or TikTok Live, engaging viewers in real time through gameplay, talk shows, creative content, or branded integrations. Day-to-day work involves planning stream schedules, setting up and managing audio/video equipment, moderating live chat, collaborating with brand partners on sponsored segments, and growing a subscriber or follower base through consistent, on-camera presence and community interaction.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and execute a regular live streaming schedule across one or more platforms
- Set up and maintain streaming hardware, software, and overlays (e.g. OBS, StreamElements)
- Engage live audiences through real-time chat interaction and community moderation
- Collaborate with brand partners to deliver sponsored segments or product integrations
- Analyse stream metrics (concurrent viewers, watch time, follower growth) to refine content strategy
- Promote upcoming streams and highlights across social media channels

No formal degree requirement; portfolio of stream recordings, follower count, and on-camera presence are the primary entry criteria.
Career path
