What does a Podcast Editor do?
A Podcast Editor takes raw recorded audio and video files from hosts and guests and transforms them into clean, professional episodes ready for distribution. Day-to-day work involves removing filler words, long pauses, and recording errors; balancing levels across multiple tracks; adding music, sound effects, and sponsor reads; and syncing audio to video for video podcast formats. They export final files to spec for platforms such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube, and may also produce show notes or chapter markers to support the episode release.
Key responsibilities
