What does a Motion Designer do?
A Motion Designer creates animated visuals, kinetic typography, and motion graphics for use across video, social media, advertising, and digital platforms. Day-to-day work involves translating briefs and static design concepts into fluid animations, building reusable motion templates, syncing visuals to audio, and collaborating with video editors, art directors, and brand teams to ensure animations align with brand guidelines. They may also handle localization of animated assets for different markets and adapt content for various aspect ratios and platform specs.
Key responsibilities
- Design and animate motion graphics for video, social, and digital campaigns
- Translate static brand assets and storyboards into polished animations
- Collaborate with video editors to integrate motion graphics into final cuts
- Build and maintain reusable motion templates and style guides
- Adapt and resize animated content for multiple platforms and formats
- Support localization of motion assets for regional or multilingual campaigns
