What does a Web Designer do?
A Web Designer plans and produces the visual layout and user experience of websites and web applications. Day-to-day work involves translating briefs or brand guidelines into wireframes, mockups, and final design assets, then collaborating with developers to ensure accurate implementation. They balance aesthetics with usability, optimising layouts for responsiveness across devices, and iterate on designs based on user feedback or analytics.
Key responsibilities
- Design wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for web pages and landing pages
- Translate brand guidelines into cohesive visual web layouts
- Create and maintain design systems, style guides, and reusable UI components
- Collaborate with developers to hand off assets and ensure design fidelity
- Optimise designs for responsiveness across desktop, tablet, and mobile
- Conduct or review usability feedback and iterate on designs accordingly
