What does a Discord Manager do?
A Discord Manager owns the strategy and day-to-day operation of a brand or creator's Discord server. They design and maintain channel architecture, enforce community guidelines, recruit and coordinate moderators, and keep members engaged through AMAs, live events, announcements, and regular conversation. They act as the primary voice of the community internally, surfacing member feedback to product, marketing, or content teams, and track server health metrics such as member growth, retention, and engagement rates to continuously improve the community experience.
Key responsibilities
- Design and maintain server structure, channels, roles, and permissions
- Moderate conversations and enforce community guidelines
- Plan and host community events such as AMAs, game nights, and live Q&As
- Recruit, train, and manage a volunteer or paid moderator team
- Write and schedule announcements, updates, and engagement prompts
- Analyse server metrics and report on growth, retention, and activity
- Relay community feedback to internal product, marketing, or content teams

Education & background
No formal degree requirement; demonstrated experience managing active Discord servers or online communities is typically expected
Career path
Can progress to Head of Community, Community Director, or broaden into multi-platform Community Manager roles
