What does a Developer Marketing Manager do?
A Developer Marketing Manager owns the strategy and execution of marketing programs aimed specifically at software developers and technical audiences. They work closely with product, developer relations, and content teams to translate technical product capabilities into compelling narratives, launch campaigns, and educational resources that drive awareness, adoption, and retention. Day-to-day work spans producing developer-focused content (docs, tutorials, blog posts, sample code), managing developer community channels, running campaigns across technical platforms, and measuring funnel performance from awareness through activation.
Key responsibilities
- Define and execute go-to-market strategies for developer-facing products and features
- Create and oversee technical content such as tutorials, blog posts, sample code, and documentation
- Plan and manage developer campaigns across channels including newsletters, developer forums, and social platforms
- Partner with Developer Relations to align community programs with marketing goals
- Track and report on developer funnel metrics including signups, activations, and product usage
- Support regional developer marketing initiatives and localization for markets such as APAC
Skills & tools
Education & background
Bachelor's degree in marketing, computer science, or a related field, though hands-on experience marketing to technical audiences is often weighted equally
Career path
