What does a Content Evangelist do?
A Content Evangelist creates and delivers technically credible content, blog posts, talks, demos, tutorials, and social media, that builds awareness and trust for a product or platform among developer, technical, or practitioner audiences. They sit at the intersection of product marketing and developer relations, translating complex technical capabilities into compelling narratives. Day-to-day work involves collaborating with product and engineering teams to stay current on the roadmap, producing hands-on content that showcases real use cases, speaking at conferences and community events, and engaging directly with the technical community to gather feedback and amplify adoption.
Key responsibilities
- Produce technical content such as blog posts, tutorials, demos, and videos that communicate product value to practitioner audiences
- Represent the product at conferences, meetups, and online events through talks and live demonstrations
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate roadmap updates into accessible narratives
- Engage with developer and technical communities to build relationships and gather product feedback
- Partner with product marketing to align messaging and support go-to-market campaigns
- Monitor community sentiment and surface insights to internal stakeholders
Skills & tools
Education & background
Bachelor's degree in a technical or communications field, or equivalent experience; portfolio of published technical content often weighted heavily
Career path
Can progress to Principal or Staff Evangelist, Head of Developer Relations, or transition into Product Marketing Manager or Developer Advocate leadership roles
