Content Writer, freelance mission job description

About The Mobile-First Company

Most tools for small businesses weren’t built for real operators.
They were built for employees in offices, not people running a business from their phone.

We’re changing that.

We build mobile-first business software that feels like a consumer app, runs on AI, and spreads like a creator brand.

Our first product, Allo, gives you a second number on your phone, answers missed calls with AI, transcribes everything, and syncs it to your CRM.

Over 20,000 businesses use it every day.
Next up: expenses, invoicing, and more.

We’ve raised +15 million dolars from Base10, Lightspeed, EMBLEM, and 30+ top operators.
Our team is based in Paris, Buenos Aires, Miami.

About Allo

Allo is a business phone system with an AI receptionist, built for small and mid-sized companies: plumbers, HVAC and electrical contractors, clinics, agencies, real estate teams. The AI answers the calls the team misses, takes the message, and then does the work the call creates, from the CRM note to the follow-up text and the booked appointment. Most of our customers are in the US and Canada.

Why this mission exists

The way people find software has changed. Buyers ask ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity or Google's AI answers, and those assistants only recommend a product when several independent sources say the same thing about it. Publishing on our own blog takes us part of the way. The rest comes from being written about, quoted and linked on other people's sites.

So we are looking for a writer to take that production on as a standing mission: articles published on partner sites, industry blogs, software directories and media, plus articles on our own site when the team needs them. It is a volume game and a quality game at the same time. The more we publish, the better, and every piece has to be good enough for an editor at another company to say yes.

What you will do

  • Deliver 3 to 5 long-form articles per week in English, so 15 to 20 a month, between 1,200 and 2,000 words each, from a brief that gives you the topic, the target keyword, the angle and the audience.

  • Write for other people's sites. You match the host blog's voice and editorial rules, serve their readers first, and place Allo where it genuinely belongs in the story.

  • Write for withallo.com: blog posts and comparison pages

  • Research properly before writing. Read the sources, pull real numbers, and use what our sales and support teams hear on close to a hundred customer calls a week instead of generic claims.

  • Apply the SEO basics we hand you: search intent, structure, headings, internal links, metadata.

  • Rework drafts after editorial review, and hold the quality bar as the volume goes up.

  • Keep the content tracker current, so we always know what is written, sent to the host, live, and where.

What we are looking for

  • Exceptional written English, native level or very close. You hear the difference between a sentence that lands and a sentence that just sits there.

  • Speed and follow-through. You finish pieces and you ship them.

  • Range of voice. You can write like a plumbing trade blog one day and like a healthcare software publication the next.

  • Real research instinct. You check a claim before you write it down, and you ask the product team when you are unsure.

  • Comfort with AI tools as a research and drafting assistant, and the discipline to rewrite everything they give you so the piece reads like a person wrote it. Copy that reads as machine-generated is the one thing we can never publish.

  • You take direct editorial feedback well and carry it into the next piece.

Nice to have

  • A degree in literature, journalism, communication or translation.

  • Published work of any kind: student paper, personal blog, freelance bylines, newsletter.

  • Exposure to B2B software, small business operations, home services or healthcare.

  • Some SEO practice.

What you do not need

  • Years of SEO experience. We give you the framework, and we edit your first articles closely.

  • An agency or marketing background.

  • Any prior knowledge of phone systems.

Our current content lead had never written a blog post before joining Allo. Two months of editing passes later, she was writing articles that still rank today.

How we work

  • You work with Maria on content and with the marketing team on priorities. Briefs come from our SEO and LLM visibility strategy, so you always know why a piece is being written.

  • Tools: Claude, Slack, Notion, Linear, and our SEO stack.

  • The first two months are hands-on. We edit together, line by line, until the voice is locked. After that you run with more autonomy and we review on outcomes.

Hiring process

  1. Intro call, 30 minutes.

  2. Paid writing test: one article from a real brief, 48 hours to deliver. This is the main filter.

  3. Review call where we go through your test line by line, so you see exactly how we edit.

  4. Mission agreement and your first brief.

Practical

  • Freelance mission, invoiced monthly. We agree on the volume, you organize your own hours.

  • Rate: USD 1,500-2,000 per month for 15-20 published-ready articles.

  • Remote within LatAm time zones. If you are in Buenos Aires, you are welcome to work from our office there.

  • You can keep other clients, as long as the monthly volume and the deadlines hold.

  • Start date: as soon as you are available.

Ongoing freelance mission · Paid monthly · Remote, LatAm time zones · Writing in English
