What does a Technical Content Creator do?

A Technical Content Creator produces accurate, hands-on content aimed at developer and technical audiences. Day-to-day work involves writing tutorials, how-to guides, sample code walkthroughs, blog posts, and video scripts that explain how a product or platform works in practice. They bridge the gap between engineering teams and end users by translating complex technical concepts into clear, usable content, often building and testing the code examples themselves before publishing.

Key responsibilities

  • Research, write, and publish technical tutorials, guides, and blog posts targeted at developers
  • Build and test working code samples and demos that accompany written content
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to stay current on features and APIs
  • Produce video or livestream content demonstrating platform capabilities
  • Maintain and update existing content to reflect product changes and deprecations
  • Optimize content for search and developer discoverability

Skills & tools

  • Technical writing
  • Code authoring (e.g. Python, JavaScript, or stack relevant to the platform)
  • API documentation
  • Git and version control
  • Static site generators (e.g. Docusaurus, Hugo)
  • Video scripting and screen recording
  • SEO for developer content
  • Markdown / MDX
  • Developer experience (DX) principles
