What does a Forum Manager do?

A Forum Manager oversees the day-to-day operation of one or more online discussion forums, ensuring the community remains active, welcoming, and aligned with platform guidelines. They moderate posts and threads, enforce community rules, respond to member questions, and escalate issues where needed. Beyond moderation, they seed discussions, identify top contributors, collaborate with content and product teams to surface community insights, and track engagement metrics to report on forum health.

Key responsibilities

  • Moderate posts, threads, and user accounts to enforce community guidelines
  • Seed and curate discussion topics to drive member engagement
  • Respond to member queries, complaints, and escalations in a timely manner
  • Identify and nurture top contributors or ambassador programmes
  • Collaborate with content, product, and support teams to surface community feedback
  • Track and report on forum KPIs such as active users, post volume, and retention
