Position Overview
We are looking for a versatile, detail-oriented, and technically sharp Assistant Editor to join our post-production team. In this role, you will be the backbone of our editing workflows, supporting our senior editors, directors, and post-production supervisors from ingest to final delivery.
You possess a deep understanding of post-production pipelines, stellar organizational skills, and a passion for storytelling. Whether you are managing complex proxy workflows, prepping timelines, or pulling selects for fast-paced social and commercial projects, you thrive in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities

- Timeline & Asset Management: Build and maintain organized NLE project files (Premiere Pro / DaVinci Resolve), manage sync maps, group multi-cam clips, and archive completed projects.
- Post-Production Support: Support the post-production workflow by building and refining rough cuts, executing revisions, completing brand packaging including captions and brand checks, and maintaining well-organized project files and assets for handovers.
- Finishing & Delivery Prep: Assist in locking cuts, prepping audio packages for mix (OMF/AAF), colour grading turnovers, and exporting multi-platform deliverables according to strict technical spec sheets.
- Workflow Optimization: Maintain and troubleshoot shared storage systems (NAS/SAN), proxy pipelines, media transfers, backups, and asset management systems to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Generative AI (Bonus Skill): Familiarity with Generative AI tools and workflows for image and video generation, with the ability to support creative and post-production needs using AI-generated assets when required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Location: Must currently reside in Toronto (or the Greater Toronto Area) or be fully willing to commute to the office on-site as required for collaborative editing days.
- Experience: 2+ years of professional experience as an Assistant Editor or Post-Production Coordinator within a commercial production house, digital agency, or broadcast environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced command of Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve; working knowledge of After Effects is a strong plus.
- Pipeline Knowledge: Deep familiarity with modern codecs, frame rates, colour spaces, proxy workflows, and audio/video delivery specs for digital, social, and broadcast platforms.
- Organization: Exceptional attention to detail with proven ability to multitask, manage tight turnarounds, and maintain file hygiene under pressure.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative, proactive attitude and a willingness to learn from senior creative staff.
