What does a Course Creator do?
A Course Creator researches, structures, and produces educational course content for a defined subject area or audience. Working from learning objectives, they write curriculum outlines, develop instructional materials such as lesson plans, scripts, assessments, and multimedia assets, and sequence content to support learner progression. They often collaborate with subject-matter experts (SMEs) to ensure accuracy, then build the course inside a learning management system (LMS) or authoring tool, iterating based on learner feedback and performance data.
Key responsibilities
- Define learning objectives and course structure aligned to audience needs
- Write and edit instructional content including scripts, lesson plans, and assessments
- Collaborate with subject-matter experts to validate technical accuracy
- Build and publish course modules in an LMS or e-learning authoring tool
- Develop supporting materials such as workbooks, slide decks, and knowledge checks
- Review learner performance data and revise content to improve outcomes
