The Orchard is seeking an experienced and clever communicator to join our global Corporate Communications team. The Senior Coordinator, Corporate Communications and Publicity will lead strategies that enhance The Orchard’s public profile and key messaging via an informed, amplified voice in media including press coverage, industry events, speaking engagements, as well as internal communications and client-focused initiatives. The role is essential to enhancing the communications department goals and coordinating with other departments to ensure overall brand visibility. The Senior Coordinator, Corporate Communications is a full-time, in-office position based in New York City at The Orchard’s headquarters and reports to the VP Global Corporate Communications.
What you'll do:
- Office- first role, in office 4 days a week.
- Aid in the planning and execution of communications initiatives that support The Orchard’s internal and external strategic priorities
- Assist in drafting press materials, including releases, bios, talking points, decks as necessary
- Collaborate with departments company-wide, assuring clear, consistent, and compelling messaging
- Maintain close relationship with umbrella corporate communications department; uphold and enforce guidelines
- Perform department admin duties such as invoices, press tracking, face sheets, guest lists, and more
- Hire and direct photographers as necessary; Service photographs to media
- Compile and distribute weekly and semi-annual media reports for leadership
- Manage company-wide approvals for all speaking engagements
- Maintain Comms calendar with speaking events, artist performances, social events, trade shows, awards shows, and other appropriate opportunities for company leadership
- Maintain and organize departmental resources and records including annual subscriptions, press database, photos, bios, media mentions, and more
- Adopt and implement new technology initiatives including daily news circulation, media briefs, and more
- Compile targeted media lists as directed by the department lead; maintain journalist beats and moves
- Collaborate with the Director of Media & Artist Relations to support publicity campaigns and media outreach for select artists across The Orchard's roster
- Track and submit information/submissions for industry power lists
- Collaborate with external media partners
- Monitor client nominations and wins at global awards ceremonies
- Identify story ideas aligning with company goals and select client initiatives
- Elevate internal and external company events, coordinate conference participation
- Identify and evaluate music industry-related data including trends, current events, hot topics, etc.
- Attend company events and shows
Who you are:
- 2+ years of music industry corporate communications or publicity experience, preferably at a label or independent PR firm
- Strong understanding of the music media and PR landscape; understanding of digital distribution preferred
- Some established relationships with reporters, editors, social media influencers, photographers, and cultural tastemakers
- Experience executing press campaigns
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; business writing experience preferred
- Proven effective relationship builder and collaborator
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, multitask, meet tight deadlines and stay focused under pressure
- Solid project management capabilities
- Highly proficient ability to think both analytically and creatively
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment
- Experience with media monitoring and press release distribution services (e.g. Cision, Constant Contact, Muckrack)
- Discretion and experience handling sensitive/confidential information
- Knowledge of all major social media platforms and content creation
- Tech-savvy with facility to learn and use new platforms and programs
- Passionate about independent music sector
