POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate Director, Corporate Communications will play a central role in shaping and executing Disc’s corporate communications across all audiences and channels, ensuring clear, consistent, and compelling messaging internally and externally. This individual will lead Disc’s corporate storytelling and manage key communications platforms, including press releases, corporate presentations, the company website, and social media. Working cross-functionally with leadership and internal stakeholders, they will ensure Disc’s narrative resonates with diverse audiences—ranging from media, investors, employees, and partners to patients and the broader healthcare community. As Disc prepares for and executes its first drug launch, this role will also support communications related to product launch and commercialization, including coordination of launch messaging, alignment of corporate and product narratives, and collaboration with commercial, medical, and regulatory teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and impactful communications throughout the launch lifecycle. The role will contribute to corporate visibility initiatives, media and public relations activities, and internal communications, while ensuring close alignment between communications efforts and Disc’s corporate strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- External Corporate Communications & Public Relations (~45%)
- Own the development of communications materials including press releases, corporate presentations, and Q&A documents from drafting to distribution
- Support and develop communications around launch and product commercialization, working closely with Commercial, Medical, and Legal functions to ensure compliance and alignment across disclosures
- Maintain Disc’s external communications calendar, including key milestones, announcements, and investor, industry and scientific/medical events; collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accuracy and alignment across teams.
- Monitor news coverage to track industry trends, company coverage, and competitive developments, providing summary reports to leadership team.
- Manage and strengthen relationships with media outlets, responding to inquiries, coordinating interviews, and developing media background materials.
- Create media background materials such as fact sheets, company overviews, and Q&A documents to ensure consistency in external messaging.
- Corporate Brand Support (~25%)
- Devise and implement social media strategy; manage corporate social media channels, including content planning, posting and monitoring to maintain an active and strategic online presence.
- Support the development of web, digital and video content, working with external vendors and internal stakeholders to enhance corporate storytelling.
- Own and maintain corporate website, including anticipating and implementing required updates and liaising with external vendors
- Own and maintain brand assets, templates, and style guides.
- Internal Communications & Employee Engagement (~15%)
- Develop and execute internal communications that support company culture, strategic priorities, and employee engagement
- Support internal communications initiatives, including All Hands meetings and recruitment and culture-focused social media content.
- Collaborate with HR and leadership to ensure consistent, transparent internal messaging
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Management (~15%)
- Build relationships with key stakeholders, including senior executives, functional leads, and external partners, to ensure effective communication and alignment
- Act as a strategic communications partner to Commercial, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Legal, and other internal stakeholders
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines, approvals, and deliverables are met
- Support corporate initiatives such as patient advocacy engagement, disease awareness efforts, and milestone announcements
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 7-10 years of experience in corporate communications and/or investor relations within the commercial-stage biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrated experience supporting strategic decision-making in biotechnology or pharmaceutical organizations, including work with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead communications strategy and execution across multiple channels
- Proven ability to develop deep working knowledge of clinical programs and therapeutic landscapes
- Demonstrated success building relationships with media, key opinion leaders, advocacy groups, and other external stakeholders
- Experience managing social media channels and corporate websites
- Ability to create and deliver effective presentations to working teams and senior management
- A hands-on approach with a willingness to handle both high-level strategy and day-to-day execution.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a hands-on, proactive approach
- Strong communication skills, can comfortably lead meetings with mid/senior-level management
- Experience with employee communications and supporting communications for large change management initiatives strongly preferred.
The annual base salary range for this position is listed below. Actual pay rates are determined by considering multiple factors including qualifications, relevance of experience, education & credentials, subject matter expertise, and internal parity.
