The Opportunity

This is a unique hybrid role where no two days are the same. You'll spend part of your time creating engaging digital content, planning and managing our social media, and the other part behind the microphone connecting with our listeners on-air. If you enjoy storytelling, photography, video, social media and broadcasting, this role offers the opportunity to do it all.

  • Cover community events, interviews and special projects both on location and in the studio.
  • Work alongside presenters to capture behind-the-scenes moments and promote upcoming programmes.
  • Monitor social media engagement and help grow our online audience.
  • Present radio programmes with warmth, personality and professionalism.
  • Conduct interviews, read community notices and help deliver live broadcasts and promotions.
  • Represent Ngāti Hine FM positively within the community.

What We're Looking For

  • A creative thinker with a passion for storytelling.
  • Someone who enjoys connecting with people both online and on-air.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience creating digital content for social media.
  • Confidence using cameras, smartphones and editing software such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Premiere or similar.
  • A willingness to learn, take initiative and work collaboratively.
  • An appreciation of te reo Māori, tikanga Māori and kaupapa Māori. Fluency is welcomed but not essential.

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • Our social media channels are active, engaging and growing.
  • Listeners feel connected through authentic and entertaining on-air content.
  • Community stories are shared with pride and professionalism.
  • Projects are delivered on time and the wider team enjoys working alongside you.

Why Join Ngāti Hine FM?

You'll be joining a passionate team that believes in the power of language, culture and community. This is an opportunity to build your broadcasting and digital media career while making a genuine contribution to the people of Te Tai Tokerau.
