Job Description

AECOM is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, entry-level Community Engagement and Communication Specialist to join our team of community engagement, communication, graphic design, facilitation and web design specialists. This is a permanent full-time position. This position will report to the Manager, Community Engagement & Communication and can be based at any of our Ontario offices.  

Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

·         Working with multi-disciplinary teams and project managers to coordinate and deliver community engagement, communication and outreach strategies for environmental assessments, community plans, and transit and infrastructure development projects

·         Drafting communication materials including key messages, FAQs, presentations, and notifications

·         Coordinating public and stakeholder engagement activities and tactics, including in-person and virtual workshops, stakeholder meetings, and public open houses

·         Implementing virtual engagement strategies leveraging online platforms

·         Supporting the development of digital media, including writing content for social media, video and websites

·         Tracking and analyzing community and stakeholder input

·         Writing internal and external reports summarizing was heard through public engagement, engagement processes and lessons learned

·         Evaluating the effectiveness of, and providing input to engagement and communication strategies

·         Monitoring project schedules, and assisting with internal and external document control and project records

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

·         Bachelor’s degree in public relations, community engagement, communication, environmental planning, or related field

·         Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and remotely if required

·         Must possess a valid class G driver’s license

Preferred Skills/Experience:

·         1-2 years’ relevant experience

·         Ability to express ideas logically, clearly and concisely in writing

·         Strong interpersonal skills and ability to function effectively as part of a team

·         Strong planning, organizational, problem solving and time management skills

·         Experience with project coordination
