About Simile

Simile is The Simulation Company. We simulate human behavior to keep people at the center of the decisions that shape the world. With AI, anyone can create a product, a campaign, a policy, or a script — the bottleneck has moved upstream. The hard question is no longer whether you can create something, but what to create, for whom, and how to bring it to life. Those are fundamentally human decisions, and they shouldn't be left to chance or handed off to an algorithm. We're building the infrastructure to understand human behavior at scale and to represent humans in an increasingly agentic world. Our mission is to simulate all eight billion people on earth.

Brand Designer job description

About the Company

We launched five months ago. Since then we've grown revenue 5x, built a new foundation model for human behavior that has run tens of millions of simulations for F100 enterprises, trained a first-of-its-kind confidence model that predicts the accuracy of every simulation, and released the first product that lets organizations verifiably predict the future. The world's leading companies use Simile to make business-critical decisions — from consumer leaders like CVS Health and Wealthfront to professional services organizations like Deloitte and Gallup — strategizing product launches, entering new markets, and forecasting earnings calls.

We've raised over $200M at a $2B post-money valuation led by Greenoaks, with Index Ventures, Hanabi, A*, Bain Capital Ventures, and CVS Health Ventures. We've grown from a small home in Palo Alto to a global team of 50+, and we're building a team of the best researchers, engineers, designers, and operators in the world. The future is too important to be left to chance.

About the Role

Simile is building a category. The world's largest enterprises are already using simulated populations to make consequential decisions, and our brand has to match that reality - precise, substantive, and unmistakably ours. Brand design is how a novel idea becomes legible and credible to the executives, strategists, and research leaders who stake real outcomes on it.

We have a strong foundation: a name, a voice, and a clear point of view. Your job is to evolve and expand it. You'll define where the brand stretches, where it holds, and how it stays coherent as we move from one product to many and from early adopters to a category the market understands.

In this role, you will:

  • Define the visual language of a new category: Build the systems, typography, motion, and imagery that make simulating human behavior feel concrete rather than abstract. There's no competitor to borrow from, which is the point.

  • Own brand end to end: Take campaigns and launches from strategy through concept to shipped execution across web, video, print, environment, and social. Art direct the work, including work you don't personally make.

  • Make the story land: Contribute to positioning and messaging, then translate that thinking into visuals that carry it. The best brand work here starts as an argument, not a layout.

  • Move between systems and craft: Build the guidelines, templates, and system that let quality hold as we scale, and hold the line on kerning, timing, and detail. Both, not one.

  • Design for a high-stakes audience: Our buyers are enterprise executives and research leaders making consequential calls. The brand has to feel ambitious and rigorous at once, never one at the expense of the other.

  • Work fast and iterate in public: Ship, get feedback across multiple workstreams, and revise. Speed is a constraint we design within, not an excuse.

  • Bring conviction and references: Show us what good looks like, argue for it, and expand our collective taste. We want your point of view, not your compliance.

  • Hold the bar: Set a high craft standard while moving at the speed of a company shipping a new category.

Requirements

Must Haves

  • An exceptional portfolio and track record of taste: Brand work you can walk us through in depth, including the decisions you got wrong. We will look at it closely and care more about it than your resume.

  • Brand systems thinking, not just execution: Evidence you've built or meaningfully evolved a visual identity. This includes the logic underneath the work, not only the artifacts on top of it.

  • Range across marketing surfaces: Web, campaigns, launches, decks, events, social, video. You've designed for more than one medium and understand how a brand changes shape between them.

  • Experience making complex or abstract ideas feel concrete: Technical, research-driven, or category-defining products where the hard part was comprehension.

  • Elite fundamentals: Typography, layout, color, hierarchy, and composition.

  • Fluency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, plus real curiosity about AI design tools: We expect you to be experimenting with generative models, not waiting to see how they shake out.

  • Creativity, attention to detail, and clarity of thought: You can take a position on why a design is right and explain it to people who will push back.

Nice to Haves

  • Founding or early-startup experience, or time at a design agency or freelancing.

  • Experience building a brand through a category-creation moment

  • Motion, 3D, illustration, or editorial design as a second gear beyond core brand work.

  • Genuine interest in the underlying science: behavioral research, social science, or how models of people actually work.

Compensation & Benefits

At Simile, we provide competitive compensation packages that include base salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits.

  • Salary Range: $200,000 – $300,000 USD

    • Note: Final offers are based on experience, specialized skills, interview performance, and relevant training.

  • Equity: Grants are available for eligible roles, subject to board approval.

  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.

  • Time Off: Flexible time off policies to support work-life balance.
