What does a Product Marketing Manager do?
A Product Marketing Manager (PMM) bridges the product and marketing teams, translating product features and capabilities into clear value propositions for target audiences. They own go-to-market planning for product launches, develop positioning and messaging frameworks, conduct competitive and customer research, and equip sales and customer success teams with the tools they need to win deals and retain customers. Day-to-day work spans writing product narratives, analysing market trends, collaborating with product managers on roadmap priorities, and measuring the impact of launch campaigns.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain product positioning, messaging, and value propositions for target segments
- Plan and execute go-to-market strategies for product launches and feature releases
- Conduct competitive analysis and customer research to inform positioning
- Create sales enablement materials including pitch decks, one-pagers, and battle cards
- Partner with product management to influence roadmap based on market and customer insights
- Track and report on launch performance metrics and marketing-influenced pipeline
