Key Responsibilities

• Capture high volumes of high-quality, professional images of guests in a variety of settings, including embarkation, formal evenings, casual shipboard activities, and Alaskan shoreside locations and shore excursions.
• Set up and operate studio and location lighting, backdrops, and related equipment to deliver consistently excellent image quality in line with Princess brand standards.
• Engage proactively with guests in a warm, confident, and approachable manner to encourage participation in photo sessions and create relaxed, natural-looking images.
• Support the PhotoStudio program by promoting sessions, explaining products and services, and helping guests select the most suitable packages for their needs.
• Work in the photo gallery and retail space to display, merchandise, and sell images and photo products, actively upselling and cross-selling where appropriate to meet sales targets.
• Use company systems and software to upload, organize, edit, and prepare images for viewing, selection, printing, and digital delivery within established timelines.
• Ensure all company-issued photography and printing equipment is handled, stored, and maintained correctly, promptly reporting any issues or damage.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized photo studio, gallery, and retail area, ensuring displays, sample products, and signage are always guest-ready.
• Consistently uphold Princess Cruises’ grooming and uniform standards, presenting a professional image that reflects the brand at all times.
• Collaborate closely with fellow photo team members and other onboard departments to support events, promotions, and shipboard activities that drive guest engagement and photo revenue.
• Follow all health, safety, environmental, and security procedures when working both onboard and shoreside, particularly in Alaskan ports and during shore excursions.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• This job opportunity is available only to United States Citizens and/or U.S. Green Card Holders due to legal requirements related to performing photography work shoreside.

• Previous experience as a professional photographer, ideally in portrait, event, or travel photography.
• Formal education in photography (degree, diploma, or certificate) preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
• Hands-on experience in professional photography that is documented and verifiable; an online portfolio or website showcasing recent work is strongly recommended.

• Demonstrated experience using professional-grade DSLR or mirrorless camera systems and accessories.
• Proficiency with studio and location lighting, including flash systems and modifiers, to achieve consistent, high-quality results in varied environments.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills on Windows and/or Mac platforms.
• Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom (or similar photo-editing software); familiarity with additional design tools such as Adobe Illustrator is an advantage.
• Experience with commercial-grade photo printing equipment is preferred.

• Strong guest service mindset with the ability to engage confidently and positively with guests from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Comfortable approaching guests, encouraging participation in photo sessions, and guiding them through poses in a friendly, professional manner.
• Proven ability or strong potential to work in a sales-focused environment, promoting photo products, packages, and services to meet or exceed revenue targets.
• Strong verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are an asset.

• Willingness and ability to live and work onboard a cruise ship for extended contract periods, including working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Physically able to stand for extended periods, move around the ship and shoreside locations, and lift/carry photography equipment as required.
• Commitment to following all company Health, Environmental, Safety, and Security (HESS) standards and procedures.
