Head of Creative Solutions job description
About the Job
The Head of Creative Solutions at Bolster is a creative visionary and production powerhouse, responsible for shaping and evolving the agency’s creative, design, content, experiential and campaign output into a market-leading force. Sitting at the nexus of culture, storytelling, and high-end execution, this role ensures that Bolster’s creative output is not only conceptually groundbreaking but also flawlessly crafted and physically realised at the highest level.
A creative, empathetic, and strong leader, they will lead and mentor the combined Creative and Production team, fostering a high-performance culture where the "how" is as important as the "what". They are the go-to for "how do we make this happen?" questions, embracing a can-do energy to turn ambitious, culturally-connected ideas into reality.
The Head of Creative Solutions works closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to maintain quality control and creative innovation, ensuring that every piece of work—from social retainers to major integrated campaigns—is industry-defining and executed with absolute craft.
OK, I’m sold – but what even is Bolster?
We are integrated communications specialists with an eye on culture.
Headquartered from Melbourne Australia, we’re a team of 50+ passionate individuals spread across four specialist teams.
Our foundational clients include festivals and events such as Splendour In The Grass, Bluesfest, St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, and more recently RISING Festival, ALWAYS LIVE and Sydney Festival.

At Bolster, we do loads of stuff, but 3 things really well:
Consulting: We guide brands and experience makers through a challenging landscape with pointed insights and cultural understanding. Our consulting services extend across culture marketing, creative and content, media, social and community building.
Branded entertainment: We devise fan-led creative solutions and storytelling that helps brands cut through.
Media: We amplify brands within impactful media, ensuring our clients are in front of the right people at the right time.
Our offering extends even further when you consider our sister agencies:
Aeroplane (experiential and commercial rights);
Going North (First Nations cultural engagement).
Ultimately, Bolster Group is famous for connecting brands to their fans.
What You’ll Be Doing
Creative Direction & Creative Execution
Lead the creative and production response for new business opportunities and client briefs, coaching teams to develop compelling, insight-driven, and feasible culture-led pitches.
Oversee the entire creative lifecycle: from ideation and campaign direction to pre-production planning, on-ground shoot management, and post-production rollout.
Act as the final gatekeeper for the craft of the work, supervising deliverables from internal and external teams to enforce the highest quality of design, video, and content.
Confidently present creative and production solutions to clients, navigating challenges to ensure the original vision is upheld without compromising feasibility.
Oversee all creative and social retainers, providing ongoing direction to ensure content is brand-aligned, platform-optimized, and evolves with audience trends.
Partner with delivery specialists to solve complex production challenges, ensuring Bolster delivers industry-leading work that is conceptually sharp and technically flawless.
Stay at the forefront of emerging trends in production, content, and culture, sharing thought leadership to keep Bolster's output cutting-edge.
Team Management & Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of creatives and producers, fostering an environment of collaboration and excellence.
Conduct weekly 1:1s, set clear expectations, and monitor growth via progression plans to ensure the team is motivated and supported.
Build and maintain an elite "freelancer bench" of specialist creative contractors and production agencies.
Oversee project workflows and creative processes, identifying opportunities to improve "ways of working" and reduce friction in the delivery of world-class work.
Support team resourcing, ensuring workloads are balanced and the right talent is assigned to the right craft challenges.
Requirements
Proven Leadership: Experience in creative direction and high-end production management across multidisciplinary teams.
Hands-on Expertise: Deep knowledge in at least one creative discipline (design, video, etc.) coupled with expert-level understanding of execution planning, shoot management, and post-production.
Problem Solver: A solutions-focused mindset that can navigate logistical roadblocks without sacrificing the integrity of the creative idea.
Natural Storyteller: Persuasive communicator able to sell both a "big idea" and the technical "how" to clients.
Our Culture
Best described by our values, which serve as the guiding principles in how we interact with our peers, partners and clients:
Eyes on culture. We connect our clients to culture and current affairs, immersing ourselves in the communities we serve. We know everything they need to know.
We turn up. In a presentation. At a launch. At an event. In a WIP. For our clients and teammates, every day.
We roll with the punches. We know the nature of this work is unpredictable. We do our best work when we’re thrown a curveball, or dive into the deep end.
We keep it real. You can’t fake what we do. We strip away the BS and build trusting relationships. Knowledge, transparency, authenticity – this is what we’re about.
It’s in our hands. We take responsibility, stay one step ahead, push outside our comfort zone and never phone it in. We’d rather fail trying something new than die wondering.
