Creative Director job description

Role Overview

We're seeking an experienced Creative Director to lead creative strategy and execution across our marketing, brand, and client campaigns. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role for someone who can set creative direction, build and mentor a team, and translate business goals into compelling creative work with a natural fit for a company operating in the audio ad space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the creative vision and direction for Audiohook's brand, marketing, and client-facing campaigns

  • Lead the creative process from concept through execution, ensuring high-quality, on-brand output

  • Partner closely with Marketing, Sales, and Product leadership to align creative work with business objectives

  • Build, manage, and mentor a team of designers, writers, and other creative contributors (in-house and/or freelance)

  • Develop and evolve brand guidelines, visual identity, and messaging frameworks

  • Present creative concepts and rationale to internal stakeholders and, as needed, to clients or partners

  • Oversee production timelines, budgets, and vendor/freelancer relationships

  • Stay current on creative trends in digital advertising, with particular attention to audio and podcast media

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in creative leadership roles (Creative Director, Associate Creative Director, or similar), ideally within advertising, media, or adtech

  • Proven track record leading creative teams and delivering high-quality campaigns across multiple formats and channels

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking, brand storytelling, and design/copy execution

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to sell in creative ideas to stakeholders at all levels

  • Experience managing creative operations including timelines, budgets, and cross-functional collaboration

  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced startup environment, wearing multiple hats as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating or overseeing audio advertising and/or podcast ad creative (host-read scripts, produced audio spots, dynamic audio insertion, etc.)

  • Familiarity with the podcast/audio media landscape and its unique creative constraints and opportunities

  • Experience working in adtech or with programmatic/digital media platforms
