Content Manager - Research (Banks) job description

Position summary

The Content Manager serves as the Banks subject matter expert within the Financials & Business Services pod and owns its expert research content coverage. The role identifies the companies, themes and investor questions that warrant coverage; defines and validates the Network Member profiles needed; designs differentiated interview agendas; leads human-moderated one-to-one interviews; and develops recurring programs for execution by Associates. The Content Manager reviews content for research quality and relevance and works with Associates and Compliance through publication.

The role requires an investor mindset and deep knowledge of Banks, including its companies, value chain, financial statements, operating drivers, industry cycles and current debates. The Content Manager must also understand relevant credit, private-market and other investor perspectives well enough to assess the sub-sector broadly; ask incisive questions; challenge superficial answers; and produce content that leaves investors materially better informed.

Key responsibilities

Coverage ownership and research agenda

  • Set and maintain the research agenda for Banks, including priority companies, themes, catalysts, investor debates and underserved information needs.
  • Identify emerging themes, inflection points and content gaps early, connecting macro, sector and sub-sector developments to company-level implications.
  • Translate earnings calls, conferences, market events, client demand and usage signals into timely interviews and recurring content programs for Banks.
  • Use a shared research foundation to develop several distinct conversations on the same company or topic without producing repetitive content.

Network Member strategy and interview leadership

  • Build and maintain a map of the roles, organizations, value-chain positions and geographies needed to answer priority research questions.
  • Define and validate Network Member profiles, screening criteria and briefing context that distinguish direct visibility from nominal seniority.
  • Design investor-focused interview agendas and questions that go beyond public commentary and generate original insight.
  • Lead human-moderated one-to-one interviews, listening actively, probing inconsistencies and redirecting the conversation toward material investor questions.

Structured programs, quality and collaboration

  • Define the research objective, respondent criteria, question sets and cadence for channel checks and other recurring structured programs within Banks.
  • Brief Associates executing those programs, review representative output and determine whether it meets substantive research and quality standards.
  • Work with Associates and Compliance to resolve substantive questions and carry approved content through publication.
  • Capture company briefs, Network Member knowledge, question frameworks and findings in reusable form to strengthen future coverage of Banks.
  • Collaborate across the sector pod when sub-sector, asset-class, regional or thematic perspectives would materially improve the research, and contribute to team ideation, knowledge sharing and quality calibration.
  • Use AI-enabled research and moderation tools to deepen preparation and improve efficiency, applying judgment to validate outputs.

Required qualifications

  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in equity or credit research, buy-side or sell-side analysis, research services, strategy consulting, corporate strategy, primary research or an expert network.
  • Deep expertise in Banks, preferably developed through public-equity or comparable fundamental research, with sufficient familiarity across credit, private-market and other relevant investor perspectives to assess the category broadly.
  • Experience producing research or insight for institutional investors or another sophisticated financial audience.
  • Strong working knowledge of financial statements, operating drivers and the performance indicators relevant to Banks.
  • Strong interest in financial markets, company and industry analysis, and business dynamics, with the intellectual curiosity and discipline to maintain deep expertise within Banks.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate research objectives into incisive, investor-relevant questions designed to generate differentiated insight.
  • Excellent verbal communication and live-interviewing skills, including the ability to probe beyond surface-level responses and challenge senior operators in real time.
  • Strong written English and research judgment, with the ability to distinguish incremental insight from general commentary.
  • Ability to own Banks independently, collaborate effectively within the Financials & Real Estate pod, and deliver high-quality work at speed in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred qualifications

  • Independent ownership of company, industry or thematic research within Banks that informed an investment, strategy or operating decision.
  • Direct exposure to expert interviews, earnings or market-event analysis, or senior-level research discussions.
  • Relevant language skills, local-market knowledge, transaction experience or technical credentials for specialist mandates.
  • MBA, CFA, CA or a relevant graduate or technical qualification.
