Senior Manager, Social Media & Content Creator job description
About Us
Codeword is a communication agency that helps brands create breakthrough comms, content, and community experiences.
We’re a fast-moving team of writers, editors, designers, strategists, videographers, PR mavens, and even a few traditional marketers.
Our incredible roster of global brands trust us to launch their startups, run multi-channel campaigns, grow their user bases, and lead comprehensive PR and marketing initiatives. We're storytellers and brand engineers, and we love big ideas that serve a real purpose.
Codeword is a remote-first agency, with physical offices in NYC and SF that we won’t make you visit.
About You:
- 5–7+ years of hands-on experience leading audience-first social content creation for B2B tech clients.
- Deep-tech translator with a track record of humanizing complex subject matter (Frontier tech, cybersecurity, etc.) for specialized tech audiences and industry stakeholders.
- Proactive, organized leader who can onboard quickly and partner with creative teams to guide social programs on new and existing business without hand-holding.
- Expert at tailoring distinct brand voices across multiple accounts, shifting from authoritative corporate comms to technical dialogue and smart social banter.
- Hands-on content creator, with expertise in writing platform-native copy, capturing content, and advising on visual formats, specs and best practices.
- Active community manager and brand steward who has owned daily audience interaction, conversation moderation, and filtering out bad-faith engagement.
- Data-Informed creator fluent in social analytics and performance metrics, using insights to refine content formats, distribution cadence, and audience strategy.
- Socially native: you live online, with deep enthusiasm for tech innovation (you know where to get the new news)
About This Role:
This Senior Manager, Social Media & Content Creator will lead the strategic and creative development of integrated social assets and campaigns, leveraging insights that drive engagement, strengthen brand reputation, and deliver measurable business results.
You'll partner closely with clients and cross-functional teams (especially strategy + I&A) and serve as a creative authority on social media execution, platform best practices, and visual formats.
In this role, you will immediately partner on high profile, multi-line deep-tech accounts. You will plug directly into our creative team—partnering with cross-functional strategy, copy, and design —to act as the driving engine for native social execution. You’ll be in the trenches creating platform-native content, advising designers on visual assets, writing social copy, posting content, and owning daily community management across high-volume channels.
Unlike most agencies, we don't build rigid walls between strategy and creative. You will act as a resident expert on what works on social right now, guiding the team on trends and formats that turn complex technical concepts into holistic, engaging programs that audiences actually want to engage with.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Creative Execution & Production Leadership
- Produce impactful, native creative work for niche audiences across digital formats and channels including LinkedIn, X, Reddit, Discord and emerging channels, translating dense technical concepts into engaging visuals, carousels, text posts, and video formats.
- Lead production workflows, across static, motion and low-fi/native video content to humanize deep-tech brands.
- Consult and advise designers on channel-specific visual guidance, platform aspect ratios, text overlays, and thumb-stopping visual mechanics.
- Partner with Copywriters to write, refine, and adapt copy across distinct brand personas.
Community Management & Moderation
- Own day-to-day community management across account lines, to drive real-time engagement and build credible technical communities.
- Handle active moderation to manage client reputational risk, filter bots, and navigate bad-faith engagement in complex industry spaces.
Content Strategy & Optimization
- Hit the ground running to lead social media operations for an AI client across multiple business divisions.
- Co-create content calendars and publication schedules across a high-volume output.
- Continuously optimize creative assets, content distribution, and audience strategies per social performance metrics
- Stay ahead of platform updates, algorithm changes, and social trends, bringing actionable ideas and fresh visual formats to brainstorms.
- Develop briefs and guidelines for all things social.
- Use AI tools to move fast, scale your human voice, and streamline social workflows.
Your Compensation:
People – that's you! – are the heart of our business, and we believe in pay transparency.
Our budget for this role is $85,000 - $128,000, depending on experience

A few more things you should know about Codeword
- The Codeword dream: Make good money doing work you care about with people you like.
- We love our clients (they write the checks!), which means maintaining a high bar for the creativity, smarts, responsiveness, and communication skills we offer them.
- We’re around 100 people, big enough to handle large-scale marketing programs, small enough that you’ll have an impact on our culture.
- We’re a friendly team, we look after each other, and we grow our careers together.
- We respect everyone’s personal life. After-hours emails are strongly frowned upon, night and weekend work is very rare, and employees are encouraged to pursue their side-hustles.
- We’re all grownups here, and we trust each other to get the work done, whether at home or in an office or a time zone on the other side of the world.
- We believe in defaulting to openness. Our calendars, our salary tiers, and our doors are open for all to see. (Except for secret client stuff, which we guard with our lives.)
- We’re a proud member of the global WE Communications family.
- Equal Opportunity: Codeword provides equal employment opportunity and doesn’t discriminate against employees or applicants because of age, race, color, religion, gender, national origin, veteran status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, or other legally protected class status.
- Diversity and Inclusion: Codeword works hard to foster a diverse team and an inclusive workplace where everyone thrives.
We aren’t a traditional agency, so we like to hire people who don’t necessarily fit the agency mold or check all the “right” boxes. If you’re on the fence about applying, please do!
