What does a Virtual Event Producer do?
A Virtual Event Producer manages the full lifecycle of online events, including webinars, virtual conferences, live-streamed panels, and hybrid productions. They coordinate between speakers, technical crews, platform vendors, and marketing teams to ensure every broadcast runs on schedule and without technical failure. Day-to-day work involves configuring streaming platforms, building run-of-show documents, conducting speaker rehearsals, managing live production in real time, and overseeing post-event content distribution.
Key responsibilities
- Build and manage detailed run-of-show documents and production timelines
- Configure and operate virtual event platforms and streaming tools
- Conduct speaker and presenter rehearsals and technical checks
- Coordinate live production including slides, video, audio, and chat moderation
- Liaise with AV vendors, platform providers, and internal stakeholders
- Oversee post-event recording editing, captioning, and content distribution
Skills & tools
Education & background
Bachelor's degree in communications, broadcast media, or event management, though equivalent hands-on production experience is widely accepted
Career path
Can progress to Senior Virtual Event Producer, Head of Events, or specialise into hybrid event production or broadcast directing
