Summary of the Director of Growth Marketing job at Cambium
Cambium is hiring a Director of Growth Marketing. Based in San Francisco, CA, US. Working arrangement: Remote. Expected pay: USD 160k-190k/yr.
About Cambium
Cambium is building the modern market for wood: physical supply, strategic advisory, and a digital platform that connects the two. We're about 100 people, we've made three acquisitions in the last 18 months, revenue grew roughly 5x in 2025, and the plan is to triple again in 2027. Marketing is a small team running four engines: Key Accounts, Velocity, Brand, and Lifecycle. Today the VP of Marketing runs Lifecycle herself, alongside strategy, brand, and everything else — that doesn't hold at the 2027 plan. Most of our growth will come from customers we already have: an architect or GC tries our material on one project, then comes back for the next one, and the next. Turning that first project into a long relationship, on purpose and at scale, is the biggest untapped growth lever we have, and nobody owns it full time — yet. As Director, Growth Marketing, you'll build Lifecycle from the ground up and own it end to end. You'll be the number two on the marketing team, and as we add regional demand gen roles, you'll lead the growth side of the team as it scales.
Director of Growth Marketing job description
About Us
Cambium is building the modern market for wood: physical supply, strategic advisory, and a digital platform that connects the two.
What You'll Do Here
Own the lifecycle and customer communication program — nurture, onboarding, expansion, and re-engagement across HubSpot, plus the email program end to end: sends, templates, calendar, deliverability, and reporting
Run customer advocacy, including our Built With Cambium program, testimonials, and logo and quote permissions, feeding customer voice into sales and brand on a steady cadence
Partner with our VP Sales as the marketing owner of the self-serve plan: the quote-request experience, speed-to-lead, and the automation that gets the right customers a fast answer without a rep in the loop
Own customer base integration for acquisitions — bringing each acquired company's contacts, lists, and CRM data into one system and one program, and running the playbook for the next deal
Build and maintain HubSpot as a marketing system: the automation, data hygiene, and workflows behind it all, plus the attribution infrastructure behind our marketing-sourced and marketing-influenced pipeline numbers
Set the lifecycle numbers that feed the annual marketing plan, and lead regional demand gen hires as they're added to your team
Own the handoff between demand gen and lifecycle, working alongside our Sr. Manager, Demand Gen, who owns top of funnel
In your first 60 days, you'll complete a full audit of the current lifecycle stack, sit in on Sales pipeline reviews, ship one lifecycle program touching expansion, get a clear read on where each acquired customer base actually sits today, and build a prioritized lifecycle roadmap for the next two quarters.
By six months, Lifecycle runs without the VP in the loop day to day, expansion revenue has a marketing program and a number attached to it, the quote-request experience is polished and mostly automated, acquired customers are unified and segmented with a repeatable integration playbook, customer advocacy is producing new logos and stories on a cadence, and you've written the lifecycle section of the 2027 marketing plan.
Your Skill Sets and Capabilities Include
7+ years in growth or lifecycle marketing, with real time at a B2B company with long sales cycles
A track record of building a lifecycle function from close to nothing, and experience leading a growth marketing team
Deep hands-on fluency in HubSpot or an equivalent platform (Marketo, Braze, Iterable) — you build the automation yourself
Experience running a customer program — advocacy, references, community, or similar — and a knack for getting customers to say yes
Comfort with pipeline data: you can pull the query, argue with the number, and explain it to a sales leader
A generalist mindset — you figure things out, roll up your sleeves, ask a lot of questions, and are fine with ambiguity while we integrate three acquisitions
Heavy, tasteful use of AI tools in your day-to-day work
Nice to have: experience in physical products, construction, or building materials, or any industry where the buyer is a professional with a project
